Thigh (Lt) AP View thigh X-ray (radiograph of the femur) is used to evaluate the bone and adjacent soft tissues of the thigh region. It is commonly ordered for trauma, pain, deformity, or suspected bone disease.
Femoral shaft fractures Stress fractures Pathological fractures (due to tumors, osteoporosis, cysts)
Periosteal reactions soft tissue swelling Osteomyelitis (early or late changes)
Tumors and Lesions
Soft tissue calcifications suggesting masses or myositis ossificans
No preparation. Prior Appointment.
Rule out pregnancy.. If pregnant, confirm necessity of test and use precautions.
